Situated on a magnificent Gold Coast waterfront site with expansive lake and hinterland views, Lac Residence was designed to incorporate the clients’ love of art and love of their site.

The design for this single-storey home includes a working artist’s studio, a sculpture garden and gallery like spaces for the display of a private art collection including paintings and sculpture.

The arrival experience takes visitors on a small journey through a beautiful sculpture garden which includes giant ‘hugging posts’ sculpted by the client, before arriving at the front door.  The artists’ studio also faces and connects to the landscaped sculpture garden for soft natural lighting, views to the sky and daily inspiration.

The artists’ sought a grand heart to the house that was surrounded by glazing to provide an abundance of filtered natural light.  The home is divided into three zones; the open-planned central living spaces in the middle, flanked by two more private wings incorporating the bedroom spaces and artists’ studio.

The heart of the home includes the main living areas; the entry space, gallery space, kitchen, living, dining, fireplace and sitting areas and also incorporates extensive custom designed joinery to house sculpture pieces and a private library collection. A high central roof floats over these main living areas and pool terrace and is softened with a stained natural timber ceiling and soffit.  Views of the lake and hinterland can be enjoyed from all the living and bedroom areas whilst still maintaining protection from the afternoon sun and privacy from boats on the water. The infinite edge pool enhances the stunning views over the pool and accentuates the expanse of the picturesque lake beyond.
